I have been working on my Generative-Iterative Python code for some time now. I use Python to process and mix sounds, often using many random processes. Generative-Iterative is, therefore, a sub-genre of Generative music that focuses on loop-based composition. In 11.2020, I perfected a technique of overdubbing through which I could automatically create tracks, in a manner of seconds. Music, in this way, could be mass-produced. The results were curated, and about 30% were retained, those of...

Over a 2-day period, Thomas Park used 2 of his original programs, the "Sequence Generator" and "The Reanimator", to create 20 original albums of music. One goal was to prove the power of Generative Music. Another was to make Good Music. And here are those 20 albums.

If showing compassion is silly and awkward, then showing it must require a person to be fearless. I think some of life's great experiences are like that. They are often mocked and take great bravery to perform, courage, too, to defend. This release was extracted from a single live session in "Loud At 7th" studio, with no overdubs (though a Looper pedal was used with my keyboard). The session was performed 01.18.2023.

AN UNAUTHORIZED TRIBUTE TO RAPOON BY VARIOUS ARTISTS Why pay tribute to Robin Storey's Rapoon? As a listener, Robin's music was immediately interesting to me, because drone music as a genre was something I hadn't yet heard. Soon, I became captivated by this conversation between sounds-- samples interacting, some looped, others making unique or shorter appearances. Technically, then, this was musique concrete-- or largely that. It was also listenable-- very "musical" in a traditional...

"Sovereign" is mystified's tribute to Rapoon's excellent "Cold War: Drum 'N' Bass" double cd, out on Caciocavallo Records, 2001. Thomas of Mystified has been listening to Rapoon's album quite a bit of late, and inspired by it and recent international events, felt it would be appropriate to create an album hearkening back to the original-- though to resurrect or banish a spectre, that is one of the album's central questions.

Thomas Park took several scores of recordings of machines made using a contact microphone, in high fidelity, and ran them through a program that adds random processes to the sounds. He chose the 100 best outtakes, and trimmed them to make them usable. These sounds are fun for listening, and would be ideal for using as elements in music or sound design. If you would like to embark on a live mixing adventure, you can try mixing the first 30 sounds in real time with "The Machine Shop" .

Thomas Park wrote music as the acts Mystified, Mister Vapor and AutoCad for over 15 years, during the late '90's, the oughts and twenty-teens. In 2017, Thomas retired all three acts. I had a dream that modernity had failed, in a way-- really, that it had never happened. Restaurants, beneath a thin veneer, were fire-lit caves, football games were hunting grounds. Life was, at its essence, savage-- and Modern Classical music, with its pulse, denoted its constant savagery, like the beating of a heart in the chest of panicked prey. All tracks composed in real-time using Generative Python code created by Thomas Park. Some tracks created in the "The Reanimator" online...

In a nice offering from Treetrunk Records, 2 experienced artists interpret the "Constant" theme. "Constant" began as an experiment in minimalism on Webbed Hand Records. A single textured drone by mystified, in longform, was released. The idea was to supply a signal that was very consistent, and approached constancy. The response to this piece was impressive. Some explained that they could not stop listening to "Constant". A number of pieces by various artists were...

This release originally came out in 2004 on Seetyca's "Mbira" label as a cdr. It is a series of arctic ambient pieces inspired by the Jensen Arctic Museum in Monmouth. The conception was Seetyca's, and mystified added a few soundloops and other elements. Final mixing was by Artin Mucht. The result is stark, cold, and beautiful-- Treetrunk hopes you enjoy it.

"The aim of this album was to make eternal static sound sculptures-- a sonic magma always in a slow movement like a basic organism, but at the same time stable as a monument, something that could give the impression of staying in another dimension."-- A Short Term Effect, 2013

"Prometheus lay, bound by a chain, on a rock on mount kazbek being awakened by the cold of the winter wind. He instinctively knew why this eternal fate had befallen him but knowing didn't help ease the anxiety of the torment to come, every day, not at the same time, but at various intervals, to maintain the agony and suspense of the punishment." "Like he had done for thousands of years, he began the breathing ritual, in and out, slow deliberate breaths, deep and profound to clear...

This release is comprised of examples of output of the original Python application, "Weird Science". Weird Science takes 1-2 keywords, searches the Internet Archive or thematic WAV files, downloads them and creates randomized samples from them. It then cues up a randomized loop-based player page.

Mister Vapor, formerly known for foggy minimal drones, has taken a foray into experimental sound collages. Shifting drones are accompanied by dubby basslines, fragmented sonics and bizarre audible mishaps. If listening to this E.P. makes your reality seem to shift, don't worry-- it's just the music! Bonus: A music video for Track Two is included with the release. Enjoy! Note: As of January 30, 2011, this release has been remastered from the ground up using 24-bit audio. FLAC and mp3 files are...

A slow-moving, drift-y longform piece made using acoustic drones. Trombone, flute and didgeridoo appear prominently. The track was mastered by Simon Heath, curator of the Cryo Chamber label, and member of Atrium Carceri among other acts.

With "Constant 13", Stephen Philips of Dark Duck Records ( http://www.darkduck.net/ ) brings us an excellent longform drone. Deep bassy vibrations and tonal layers are offset by interesting percolations. Treetrunk Records is proud to host Mr. Philips. We hope you enjoy his "Constant" as we have.

"History is littered with examples of great civilizations, cultures, and economic empires that reached a point where they could no longer sustain themselves. Complacence washed over the great majority. Where once there had been forward-thinking, it had receded to a dark shallowness sucking the light, and life, from any who raised a warning cry. Apathy set in. The foundations and structures the greatness had been built on were ignored, forgotten, and eroded. This music is in recognition of...
